Progress towards 0.1


hi all! we've hit 3 weeks since 0.0.7 so i thought i'd cover where things are at a little bit

a lot of elements throughout the first updates were implemented with getting a functional (but messy) first draft as the main priority, but that requires clean-up at some point and i'm taking the time for that now. this means a lot of work that isn't immediately obvious player-side, but is required to make sure everything runs smoothly and in some cases just to allow development to continue (for example, reworking the map system to allow for area transitions, etc)

so all-in-all, the general plan for v0.1.0 is to clean up any existing systems or visuals that need cleaning-up, and as soon as that's over, to start implementing the basic gameplay loop and start on Real writing instead of just placeholder text. the basic gameplay loop probably won't be completely implemented until later in the 0.1.x demos, but i've already started roughing out the basics.

with that, this means 0.1.0 is going to take at least a couple more weeks to be ready, but the good news is that it's going to come with a lot of new content instead of being a strongly structure-centered update like 0.0.5-0.0.7 were. a fuller to-do list can be found in the elf game discord, but general planned improvements are more/better ui theme options, save files, first sim gameplay basics, objectives menu, general menu improvements, more background elements.

thank you! it's going to be a little while longer until i can finish work on 0.1 (very busy life things), but i hope you like it when it's done! o/

understandable, I myself have a lot of projects that won't be done for a while, from what I've seen, it seems pretty interesting so far
